Saturday we woke up at what would have been shortly after the crack of dawn had it not been for the fog to hit Triple D stop #2 on the trip - Dotty's True Blue Cafe. We had to wait about 45 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. I had blueberry cornmeal pancakes and Lelaine had corned beef hash. The place, particularly the kitchen, is tiny, and we sat at the counter and got to see the cook impressively make a lot of food in very close quarters.Later that morning we walked from our hotel in the financial district to the weekend farmers market at the Ferry Building. It was packed and we had a couple small slices of meat from Boccalane, whose slogan is "Tasty Salted Pig Parts." Even though a lot of the food looked great, we planned on eating lunch a little later in another neighborhood. But right before we were set to leave we saw a food truck with a massive line and decided to see what all the fuss was about. When Lelaine saw a sign mentioning pork belly rolled in pork loin, we decided to throw our plans out and get in line. The bites of crispy pork were really good, although since it was just after 1pm and we had already had breakfast and a snack, neither of us could finish our lunch.

The sun was out and we decided to take advantage of it and stay outside, so we walked down Market to a coffee shop near the mint. When Lelaine went to LA earlier this year for work, she fell in love with the siphon method for brewing coffee. It is a contraption invented by the Japanese, and few US coffee shops do it. Luckily for her, one of the Blue Bottle shops in San Francisco has one, so we tried a couple different kinds of coffee. She has been talking about the siphon for months, so it was nice for me to try it.
Other than eating, when we travel Lelaine likes to shop. When the coffee was finished we went to the Mission and to a number of places, particularly furniture stores. While I am not enamored with shopping like Lelaine is, the good thing about furniture stores is that they have plenty of comfortable seating.
That night we went to Triple D stop #3, Q. It was pretty nice for a place on the show, but the prices were still cheap, which is what matters. Although I normally don't like duck, I remember Guy talking about the duck confit, so I went with it. It was very good, particularly for duck - had a better texture and not as fatty as the other times I have had it. It had a nice cherry and red wine sauce with it. Lelaine went with pulled pork tacos, which she also liked. We wanted to have dessert, but were both stuffed from a long day of eating so we had to pass.
Sunday morning we woke up and headed to the airport. Our weekend was over.
